What we provide -
What we provide - Learning and Development is an important part of the support we give to foster carers and is compliant with the National Minimum Standards for Foster Care and also the DfE Training and Support Development Standards. Our online and geographically accessible face-to-face learning and development programme is inarguably comprehensive, ensuring that our foster carers are provided with a whole host of way to develop their expertise, knowledge and skills base. We regularly consult our foster carers to gain feedback and to develop our training programme to meet their needs, so that they can be most effective in caring for the children and young people placed with them. .
To supplement the programme we organise, where we commission some of the best trainers in the field, we also offer access to external events, such as via Local Safeguarding Children Boards.
Learning and Development is divided up into the following broad subsections:
• Skills to Foster pre-approval initial preparation training and assessment (cross referenced to DFE/TSD standards)
• Basic Post-Approval Training Mandatory Courses, (such as Behaviour Management, Attachment Training, Record Keeping, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, etc)
• Special Courses and Continuing Professional Development for foster carers and Staff
• Vocational Underpinning Knowledge (acknowledging TSD standards)
